KC of Orleans - Capital Fair Special Needs Day  - On Thursday, August 17th, before the fair opens to the public, the Capital Fair will be hosting over 1,500 physically challenged and developmentally delayed children and their families to a "special" private day at the 2017 Fair.  The children ride the midway rides (suitably speed reduced), visit the petting zoo, sing in the Karaoke tent, play skill appropriate games, enjoy a hotdog and ice cream lunch, laugh with Doo Doo the Clown and Maria Hawkins and have the time of their lives.

Hydro Ottawa helps sponsor the huge lunch tent, table/chair rentals and provides as many volunteers as they can to help with moving the children to and from the rides and to coordinate the massive lunch operation.

With our growing numbers we are once again appealing to the Kiwanis Clubs of Divisions 12 & 13 for assistance for volunteers.  Volunteers are required to help setup the tables and chairs, help cook, assemble food trays and serve lunch, run the Karaoke Tent and assist with the clean up.  Working with a coordinator from Hydro Ottawa, all volunteers will be assigned a responsibility so everyone's time is valuably spent.

This year the children will begin to arrive at 9:30am so all volunteers are asked to be on-site for a quick orientation session at 8:30am.  Our last guests are usually on their way by 2:00pm after which we are planning a small volunteer appreciation celebration.  Everything is typically cleaned up and packed away by 3:00pm.

Please contact me if you can help us with this great event.  Harley Bloom, General Manager (President, Kiwanis Club of Orleans) 613-741-3247  613-851-3567 cell    Email to: harley@capitalfair.ca
